About
Lothar Bienenstein was born in Vienna and learned photography already as a teenager.
For more than three decades now, he has been involved in both the aesthetic and the technical development of photography, from classic analogue large-format photography to today's digital photography.
His early interest in architectural photography brought him into contact with Gerald Zugmann, the doyen of Austrian architectural photography, who eventually also taught him. As a result, there were also joint projects.
Later there were also collaborations with other renowned architectural photographers, such as Gisela Erlacher or the Swiss Beat Bühler.
Bienenstein’s work includes buildings by architects such as Morger Partner, Miller & Maranta, Buchner Bründler, E2A, Baumschlager Eberle, Christian Kerez, Ivan Matušík and Bernardo Bader.
Parallel to photography, he studied graphic design and set up an agency in Vienna that is primarily dedicated to the art sector and develops corporate identity, publications and exhibitions for museums, fairs and galleries throughout Europe.
Today he lives in Vienna and Palma, his work can be found in a wide variety of publications.
